How much does it cost?

Costs vary, so this is negotiated during your free consultation. The price depends on the type of design, size, colour, detail and skin type etc.

How long does it take?

Same answer as above, it depends on a number of variables. Everyone is different and every design is unique, so there is never a straight answer for this.

Short answer – it takes as long as it takes.

Does it hurt?

Yes!

No point sugar-coating it, a tattoo hurts and there’s no way around it. You can, however, be prepared…

Where is the worst place to get tattooed?

In somebody’s kitchen!

Seriously though, bony areas such as the feet, ribs and collar bone are the worst.

How do you come up with a design?

You have an active role in your design, we ask you to essentially create a mood-board for inspiration and we will work with you to tailor the design to your needs and wants (within reason).

How do I prepare for a tattoo?

Can I reschedule my appointment?

If you contact us at least 24 hours before the appointment, then we will re-schedule and you will not lose your deposit.

How do I look after my tattoo?

We have a whole section on the site about looking after your tattoo, check that out here! We also provide aftercare information in the studio, and if you have any questions you can give us a buzz on the studio phone.

Are you vegan friendly?

We’ll talk to anyone 😉

But yes, all our products are vegan-friendly, so no worries there.

Thoughts on inclusivity?

Pronouns, terminology, advise us on what you need, you will be respected. Moko Tattoo Studio is a hate-free zone.

Do you tattoo people with darker skin tones?

Of course!

Every different skin type requires a different approach, and as experienced artists we have learned what works best with each one. There are considerations to take into account with any skin type, but this shouldn’t put anyone off getting tatted up! For instance, it is necessary to go more gently with darker skin tones due to a propensity towards keloid scarring, but this is no inconvenience for an experienced tattooist, merely a slight accommodation necessary to provide the best work possible. There are many myths around tattooing darker skin, but we’ve busted them all and are here to give everyone the chance at rocking some gorgeous art!

I’m 17 years old and have a note from my Mum, can I get a tattoo?

Hell, no!

Sorry kids, but we will not tattoo anybody under the age of 18, no matter how ‘okay’ your parents might be with it.

We reserve the right to ID anybody asking to get tattooed.
